Day 1 - Arrive at the San Francisco airport. Accessible transfer to your hotel. Get acquainted dinner. Stay 1 night.
Day 2 - We'll tour through downtown San Francisco before continuing to the Golden Gate Bridge, where you’ll admire it from both ends, then continue into Marin County to see Muir Woods National Monument, one of the most beautiful and accessible of the famous redwood groves. From there, we continue to Napa, near the heart of Northern California’s Wine Country. Stay 2 nights.
Day 3 - We begin the day driving to historic Sonoma where you will have time to wander around this charming old world town, with its town plaza, remnant of the town’s Mexican colonial past, where we can visit the Mission San Francisco Solano and Sonoma Barracks.Afterward, we drive to the Wine Country of the Napa Valley, where we will tour one of the area's most popular wineries. Even those who don’t wish to taste, will find it a very interesting tour.
Day 4 - We drive to Yosemite National Park today. Stay 3 nights.
Day 5 - One of the best known places in the world, Yosemite is set within California’s Sierra Nevada and renowned for its magnificent valley, iconic granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall and giant, ancient sequoias. We enjoy the valley and a drive to Glacier Point, where we view Half Dome from the same height today. Fabulous photo opportunities everywhere you look!
Day 6 - Over the top of the Sierras, still in Yosemite, to Tuolumne Meadows, one of the largest high-elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada at 8,600 feet, on the road that marks the north end of the largest contiguous roadless wilderness in the U.S. Some of Ansel Adams most famous photos were taken in this area.
Day 7 - To Monterey! The capital of Alta California under the Spanish, Mexican and American flags, Monterey, is at the center of much history, interest and beauty. Stay 2 nights.
Day 8 - Among the sights today will be: Steinbeck’s Cannery Row, and the spectacular Monterey Bay Aquarium, where we take plenty of time to enjoy this renown aquarium. Later a drive along the beautiful, rocky shore of Pacific Grove and lastly, we’ll drive along the famous Big Sur coast, known for its stunning cliffs above the Pacific Ocean.
Day 9 - Return to San Francisco today. En route, a stop at Mission San Juan Bautista, founded by the Spanish in 1797. This was the 15th California Mission and today is adjacent to a state park that includes several structures built in the 1800s. Farewell dinner.
