Northwest Tour

This is an example of what the itinerery for this trip might be. It's very possible that it will be slightly different if this is one of the selections for this year.

Seattle, Vancouver & Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Day 1 - Welcome to Seattle, Washington, the "Emerald City", cupped between the Cascade Range, the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Accessible transfer to your hotel. Get acquainted dinner.
Stay 2 nights.

Pikes Place Market

Day 2
- Touring special bits of Seattle today, including Pike Place Market (left), the oldest operating farmers' market in the country and considered to be the "heart and soul of Seattle"; the Space Needle at 605 feet for panoramic views of the city and, if it's clear, Mt. Rainier; next door we'll visit Chihuly Garden & Glass, showcasing Chihuly's amazing glass creations; and Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks & Botanical Gardens. It's great fun to watch the pleasure boats line themselves up in the locks and see the salmon use the fish ladder.

Hotel Grand Pacific

Day 3 - We'll take a ferry ride across Puget Sound from Anacortes, north of Seattle, to Vancouver Island, on our way to Victoria. We'll keep our eyes open for whales on the ride over, as we travel among beautiful islands. Stay 3 nights in the beautiful Hotel Grand Pacific (left) on the harbor in small and charming downtown Victoria.

Butterfly Garden

Day 4 - In the next 2 days we'll have beautiful places to see and terrific things to do, including fabulous Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada, with 50 acres of wonderful floral display, still privately owned by descendants of the original owners. While there, we'll enjoy Afternoon Tea, a charming meal, really, a traditional repast made popular in England hundreds of years ago. Today, we'll also enjoy the wonderful Butterfly Gardens (right).

Day 5 - In no particular order, we'll visit the impressive Parliament Buildings; Fairmont Empress Hotel, an historic landmark building that has served visiting royalty since 1908; Royal BC Museum housing beautiful totems, a natural history area, a walk-through colonial street and Chinatown; Victoria Harbour. For those interested, you'll have an opportunity to buy an original and genuine Cowichan Sweater (Google it).

Day 6 - We'll board a different ferry, this time bound for Tsawwassen, the ferry terminal near Vancouver, B.C., Canada then head for our hotel. Stay 2 nights.

Day 7 - Tour Vancouver! This is a city uncommonly blessed with scenic and interesting attributes and Vancouver Lookout, at a height of 430 feet, is the perfect place to survey the city. A jewel called Stanley Park, North America's third largest urban park, worth a day in itself. While there, we'll take an accessible narrated ride with Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours. There will be more on the plate, depending on available time.

Day 8 - Today we return to Seattle, but the highlight along the way will be the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour, near Everett, WA. We go behind the scenes at Boeing -- in the world's largest building -- to see huge jet aircraft being assembled. This is the only publicly available opportunity to tour a commercial jet assembly plant in North America. Farewell dinner.

You will be arriving and departing at SeaTac, Seattle's airport.

Seatac is one of those large airports that are just unfriendly to larger vehicles such as our small buses. And, since you can't leave an unmanned vehicle at airports any more, we can't go into the terminal to find you. Also, you will be arriving at different times and it is about 20 miles to your hotel, which is on the north side of Seattle. Consequently, you will be taking Super Shuttle from the airport to your hotel. The cost is currently $35 per couple and rather than adding it into the tour cost, it will be easier if you just take care of it at the time.

Here is the phone number for Super Shuttle: 425-981-7000. You'll call them and give them your arrival information. They'll add time to get your baggage claimed for an approximate pick up time. Then, when you are there, you'll call and let them know that you have your luggage and where you are. Simple.

When you depart, you will be taken to the airport either by us by a van provided by the hotel.
